The Making of Falsettoland 🌈
I watched Falsettos for the first time in April 2019. I didn’t know much about it so I was going into it cold.
Falsettoland/About Time was definitely my favorite number. I couldn’t get this iconic image out of my head. After the show, I quickly typed in my Notes app, “Falsettoland/Disneyland.” Tbh, Disneyland lives rent-free in my head and I’m completely okay with this 🙃
For the design, I wanted to incorporate the playful block set, 1960s Disneyland sign, and the colors from the show’s playbill.
After a couple of size tests, I realized this design wouldn’t work as a pin. The finer details would get lost so this pin would have to be massive to work.
Peep the old school PINBILL branding! I was still working out how to design my backer cards and this mockup very closely aligned with the old classic Playbill branding. Ultimately, I went down a more modern route. Also borders and making things perfectly centered gave me such a headache!
So I went to the sticker route instead. For the jumbo size version, I added a glitter detail. Glitter makes everything better, amirite? And the rest is history! This beauty and its small sticker counterpart are consistent sellers in the shop, and I’m so appreciative. Thanks for reading ❤️
